Faviana Style S7596
Have you always wondered how to create the ideal smokey eye for your special occasion? Lucky you — you’ve stumbled upon the Faviana blog for your prom makeup update. Of course everyone does it a little different, but here are the basic steps for an easy to follow guide. Follow our simple steps to create the perfect smokey eye look to match your gorgeous prom gown.
First Thing is First, Prime!
First thing’s first, you need to prime your gorgeous eyelids so the colors you apply come out bolder. We recommend using Urban Decay eyeshadow primer for its long-lasting qualities. Priming not only evens out the color of your eyelids, it helps your eyeshadow stay on longer because it adheres on to the primer. Without the primer, your pigments will not be as saturated, so don’t skip on the primer!
Add the Pigment
Time to add those bold colors. Usually with a smokey eye, you pick one color and three shades of that color. Apply a light or highlighting color underneath your eyebrow and in the inner corner of your eye as well. Apply the lightest shade from the inner corner of your eyelid to about a third of the way. Then, take your second shade and dust it on the rest of your eyelid. This could be a grey or a dark brown, depending on what you like.
Bring on the smokey
Once you’ve applied the lighter colors, it is time to apply the darkest color. Start by dusting the eyeshadow at the outer corners of your eye, to about a third of your eyelid. Bring the brush underneath your eyelid crease and sweep some shadow throughout the crease. Take another brush and blend all 3 shades out so there are no harsh lines. The eyeshadow on a smokey eye should should have smudge perimeter. Blending the shadow is very important, so blend that shadow in an outward direction. We recommend the BareMinerals blender brush for a nice smudged look.
Eyeliner & Mascara
The finishing steps would be adding some eyeliner and mascara to really make your eyes pop. You can use any type of eyeliner depending on your taste. Go for some light eyeliner or the cat-eye look, the choice is up to you. Be sure to add some eyeliner to your bottom waterline, and dust a little dark eyeshadow as well to bring the look together. Once you’ve done that, take your favorite eyelash curler and curl those lashes. Top it off with some voluminous mascara. We recommend Rimmel Wonderlash Lift me up Mascara because of the amazing volume it gives your lashes, without the clumps.
