Street Style Takes Over NYFW 2016

2016.02.17

Fashion week season has been graced upon us once again and I must say, I am in love. Fashion week, no matter spring or fall, draws out some of the most unique fashionistas/fashionistos in all of the lands. One thing we love most about New York Fashion Week here at Faviana is, the street style. Yes, that’s right. Street style baby!

Fashion Week used to be all about the designers, their clothes and the models that would show the clothes off down the runway. Now, Fashion Week has turned into an iconic event where not only the designers and models become “seen” for the week, anyone is. Welcome to New York Fashion Week street style.

Individuals that live and breath fashion feel that this time of year is like Christmas (or some other beloved holiday). You get to dress to the nines and have people truly see and appreciate who you are by showcasing your love for the fashion industry.

And no matter the weather (rain, snow, sleet or shine), die hard fashion lovers will be out strutting their stuff, getting their picture taken and taking down names. Talk about innovative and determined. Keep reading to check out some looks we fell in love with.

We all love color-blocking but check out how this fashionista took color-blocking to the next level. The jacket alone was a head turner but the matching caramel, wide-brim fedora with and hot pink clutch really kicks this number up a notch. Not to mention the white, thick rimmed sunglasses that are to die for. Staying way-chic and warm at the same time.

Not everyone is a fan of the wide-leg pants trend but I’m in love. And when you see how Brazilian model, Gizele Oliveira, kills them you might just fall in love too. Her choice to pair them with a graphic sequin-tee and a multi-color leather jacket was beyond genius. There has got to be something said about her being stopped by, how many, photographers in the snowy weather to showcase her killer outfit?

Fashion blogger, Jeanne Grey (TheGreyLayer.com), had a favorite look of mine. Her trendy cutout top paired with cropped wide-leg pants and Saint Laurent lace up booties was fabulous all on its own. The addition of the full length creme jacket was brilliant. The whole monochromatic look gives me chills and was a great contrast to the snow.

What about fashion blogger, Alexandra Diecks’ (lexiconofstyle.co) outfit did you not in fall in love with? Because for me, everything was 100%. From the high-low sequin dress to the gorgeous Maison Margiela, floral booties. What really knocks the outfit out of the park is the cobalt “boy bag” inspired purse and her signature scarf. How cool is she?!

And what’s NYFW without Leandra Medine (founder of ManRepeller.com) strutting her stuff down the streets of NYC, with her impeccable style. This Saks Potts coat keeps her look trés chic. Her style is something to follow beyond fashion week. Her style gives me life.

So despite the wild weather that encompassed NYFW this week, fashionista/o’s rocked it like no other.  I mean, missing NYFW is like missing your birthday–weather wasn’t stopping any true fashion lover.
