Valentines Day is special day of romance on February 14th. It is a day where people exchange cards, candy, small gifts, even flowers with their sweetheart, loved ones young and old, and even besties. Valentines Day gifts don’t need to be expensive or elaborate. They can simply be sweet gestures that bring a smile to someone’s face and warms their heart. This is a holiday where the thought really does count and that makes it perfect for DIY Valentines Day gifts. Here are some of our favorites!
Sweet Treats for Valentines Day Gifts
Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Chocolate covered pretzels are an easy Valentines Day gift when you are planning gifts for a group of people like your Girl Scout Troop, sports team, school club, or sorority.
- Pretzel rods – the number you need will depend on how many people you are gifting. We suggest wrapping up 3 chocolate covered pretzels per person.
- White, milk, or dark chocolate
- Any festive small candies such as mini M&Ms, sprinkles, or even colored melting candy.
Now, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper to prep the pretzels for the chocolate. Hint – chilling the pan in advance helps the chocolate set!
Next, melt the chocolate in a double boiler and start dipping your pretzels about 3/4 of the way down. Place the chocolate covered pretzels on the chilled cookie sheet on top of the parchment paper. This is the time to add any candy or sprinkles before the chocolote hardens.
Once the chocolate is completely hardened, wrap three to four pretzels in cello bags and tie them closed with a festive ribbon!
This is a quick recipe that makes about 1 ½ pounds of candy.
- 12 ounces of white chocolate
- 12 ounces of dark chocolate
- ½ cup of pink and red M&Ms – Sprinkles or any other themed mini candies work too!
Now, line a 9” x 12” pan with parchment paper and set that aside. Next, you’ll melt the dark chocolate and pour that all onto the parchment paper, spreading it out evenly on the pan. Melt the white chocolate next and pour that evenly on top of the dark chocolate. Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle the assorted M&Ms on top of the white chocolate along with any other sweet candy you’d like to add. Place the pan in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours. Finally, break up the chocolate and place the pieces in cello bags while tying it shut with a red or pink bow!
Love Letters for a Valentines Day Gift
How romantic would it be to receive a love letter on Valentines Day? You don’t have to have a significant other for this to be special. Let your best friend know you’re thinking about them or send a cute note to your mom! But for this Valentines Day gift to hold an extra special meaning, make sure your letter is on good ole’ fashion paper. Truly a gift from the heart!
Or another great idea could be to create 30 days of little love notes in a Mason or Ball jar. Use little pieces of paper and write something nice about your sweetheart. Notes like, “I like the way your smile lights up a room” or “Your laugh is infectious” will be sure to put a smile on their face. Place them in the jar, add a bow, and your gift of love is ready.
