8 Tips & Tricks For Social Media

In order to optimize each of your posts and get maximum exposure on Facebook & Instagram, be sure to schedule your posts at least 2 hours apart. This will insure a better position within Facebook & Instagram algorithms.

Hootsuite is a social media management system/tool that helps you keep track and manage your many social media platforms. With this tool, you can pre-upload and schedule your content weeks in advance. Using Hootsuite saves a lot of time and allows you to focus more on engaging with your audience. We recommend taking one day per month to plan your posts and then one day per month to upload all of your posts. It is good to have consistent posts that are pre-planned and uploaded and then save room to post once a day for more spontaneous and time sensitive content. Facebook also has its own scheduling program as well. If you choose to use this helpful tool, we suggest you set up a content calendar first.

A content calendar is a great way to pre-plan your content in advance, prior to scheduling everything into Hootsuite.  Drag each image into its’ designated day and add the text and hashtags that you want to add with it.  We suggest creating a content grid consisting of the following topics: Product Push, Behind the Scenes, Motivation Monday (Quote), Lifestyle Image, Celebrity Muse, Real Life Girl, How to Style, etc.  Each day of the week should have a designated theme.

Start your content calendar by looking at a holidays local events calendar and build from there.

There are three kinds of tagging: Location tagging, User tagging, and Hashtagging and it is necessary to use all three tags to increase your social media profiles’ audience. When you add your location on social media, you’re tagging yourself with many other that are in a common place.  As a business owner, you should be tagging your store as the location every time.  This will directly help drive traffic to your store by plugging yourself into the yellow pages of social media. With having a personal account, this puts your content out there for many other viewers to see your experiences.

There is a user tagging etiquette.  It is always polite to tag who is in the picture.  Also if you are reposting, it is polite to tag where you found the photo.  Writing out the tag in the body of the comment always has more of an effect than tagging the photo with the tagging feature.  Trust us, everyone will return the favor!   

Hashtagging is an essential part of expanding your social media with followers, shares, and engagement. So, when to use a hashtag? ALWAYS!  Stick to a 1:1 ratio of branded hashtag to trending hashtag. Branded hashtags help you define your store while training your audience how to speak about you on social media while trending hashtags allow you to be found on larger audiences.

Find the hottest hashtags by googling top trending hashtags related to prom and a list of the top trending hashtags will appear!  Enjoy!

Knowing your social media analytics helps you grow your social media accounts. When you know how your social media is performing, you know what to keep posting and what not to continue to post. By using tracking links like google shorteners & owlies, you can figure out what is best for you and your business by tracking the performance of each of your posts. Use Facebook analytics to track things like, your top performing content, the times of day you get the most engagement as well as your page’s total likes, how many shares posts will get and the reach of your posts.  Facebook analytics has become really sophisticated and you will learn a lot about your audience.

On social media platforms, you see so many different images. Image quality plays a huge part in the likes, share, and, the overall engagement with your account. What types of picture do well? High quality, aesthetically pleasing and on brand. When you have a high quality image(resolution), it shows professionalism and it puts your product in the best light. When you have an image that is aesthetically pleasing, it shows your viewers how you hold your company. Conquer this by making sure the photo filters are all the same, the lighting and framing is correct and showcasing your product in the best way. Last but most important, making sure your photo is on brand. When you look at your platforms as a  whole and subtract all words, the image has to speak for your brand. Upload photos that are building your brand image.

When creating the perfect profile, make sure to be quick, simple, and to the point.

For a business: Add your name or company to the description, one short sentence about your company (elevator pitch), a motto or tagline (if you have one) but most importantly, be sure to add your company’s website and if possible, use a tracking pixel, webmaster tools, or google analytics to track the traffic coming from your social profile.

For a personal Account: Add your name, a brief bio about yourself and what you’re trying to achieve. Plus, link your website, LinkedIn or an online portfolio.

Promotions are a huge way to increase social media stats and create brand awareness. Promotions can consist of, but are not limited to, contests, giveaways, and partnering. We also recommend, having Instagram Takeovers, where you have an influencer of choice take over your Instagram account for an allotted time where they will promote your business. Also, having a blogger in residence, this where you will invite a blogger of choice to come and write articles that are on brand. Ex. Top 5 ways to style this Faviana Gown, The perfect prom shoes, Bridesmaid dress that you will fall in love with.
