Even if you’re not one who usually makes lists, we definitely suggest doing it for Christmas. The key to Christmas on a budget is planning beforehand. Start by writing down a list of all the people you plan on buying gifts for and who should be on your gift list. Begin with your immediate family and close friends, and then selectively add to your list from there with relatives and colleagues. Don’t be afraid to trim it if needed! In addition, you should prioritize your gift list. It’s okay that not everyone will be considered equally for you might want to spend more money on your mom, for example. When Christmas shopping on a budget, decide who is at the top of the list and work backwards. Then, make a list of potential gifts for everyone and keep track of the prices.

Many people tend to overspend on Christmas gifts, feeling guilty afterwards. To overcome this, set a spending limit by figuring out the total amount of money you want to spend on presents. Then, divide it up among each person on your list. Searching for more inexpensive Christmas gifts will allow you to buy more, so keep that in mind! Furthermore, when it comes to purchasing the Christmas gifts, always pay in cash. This will force you to stick to your budget and easily keep track of what you spend, compared to losing track with credit cards.

People are appreciative of any gifts they receive and don’t really care about how much a person spent on it. Therefore, instead of spending all your money at designer stores, find inexpensive Christmas gifts at discount stores. This will allow you to get the most out of your Christmas budget, as you can find an array of discounted items and great deals. Try shopping at Kohls, TJ Max, Marshalls, and Dollar Stores that have it all. You’ll be amazed at all the items you can get, even finishing all your Christmas shopping at one store!
