Here at Faviana, we love this festive time of year: family, friends & good food! It can be so hard to not over indulge on all the yummy food and sweets that always seem to be around! Sometimes, it takes a lot of self-control to not have one. more. cookie. Luckily, Glam and Gowns Vlog channel is here with Ms. Faviana Eve Dawes to discuss healthy holiday foods! She has some suggestions for how to eat healthy during this holiday season! Follow some of her tips to enjoy this festive time of year but stay healthy.

Skinless, white turkey meat is a great source of lean protein! Protein is so important as Ms. Faviana says it is “the building blocks of the body” which means great hair, skin and nails! Turkey is high in protein and therefore a great decision for those trying to stay healthy this holiday season.
#2 Non-starchy Vegetables
Load your plate up with Broccoli, Cauliflower, Asparagus, Spinach, and Cucumbers! These vegetables are packed with nutrients, vitamins & minerals! However Ms. Faviana reminds us this does not mean we can just cover them in cheesy, creamy sauces (no matter how good they taste)! You get the most benefit from eating them plain. Another added benefit of eating a lot of vegetables is that they boost your immune system – which we all know is great this time of year, because it also happens to be the middle of cold and flu season!
#3 Vegetable Based Dips
Vegetable and Protein based dips are a better, healthier alternative to your cheesy dips! Ms. Faviana suggests opting for freshly made salsa, guacamole, and hummus. Dips are another delicious way to get some of your fiber, vitamins and minerals for the day. Bonus point if you use some raw veggies to eat the dip!
#4 Chai Tea Latte
So delicious and festive, Ms. Faviana suggests a recipe to make at home – that comes in at 170 calories less than the Skinny Starbucks version! This version is sugar and dairy free. The spices and ingredients are all natural and provided added bonuses such as being anti-inflammatory and help with digestion. A nice cup of this chai tea latte and curling up with a good book is a great way to relieve some holiday stress.
#5 Fit Frozen Desserts
Luckily for us, fit diet frozen desserts are big now – which means they are available many places! Choose a dessert that is a lot lower sugar and fat content than your typical ice cream. They still taste great, built with less of the guilt! It may be winter but it’s always a good time for ice cream!
