Guide to NYC During the Holidays

2016.12.03

What better place to spend the holidays than in New York City?  From the tree in Rockefeller Center to the Bryant Park shops, you will never be bored! The city is the perfect place to get in the holiday spirit, shop for loved ones, and spend time with family and friends. Check out our guide to NYC during the holiday season!

Union Square Holiday Market

This is one of my favorite holiday shops in NYC. You actually feel like you’re in a Christmas movie with all of these cute booths, decorations, and great food! Union Square Holiday Market has over 150 local and national vendors that sell handcrafted gifts such as jewelry, accessories, artwork and much more! My favorite part of this market is definitely the food though! They have a variety of food vendors such as Momofuku Milk Bar, Bar Suzette, Wafels & Dinges, No Chewing Allowed, and more. My only advice to you is not to bring a lot of money because you will definitely spend your entire pay check at this market!

Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park

Don’t get too excited! Yes, the admission to the ice skating rink is free, but you either have to bring your own skates or pay $20 to rent the ones they provide. Once you’re done skating, you can warm up by going to the rink side restaurant called Public Fare. After that, it’s time to shop and get dessert! There are over 125 shops to browse through so I am sure you will not leave this winter village empty handed!

Columbus Circle Holiday Market

This market is run by the same company behind the Union Square holiday market, so you know it has to be good! It has 100 booths that are smaller and cozier than the previous markets, but just as amazing. Here you will find handmade items from local vendors and snacks from Mrs. Dorsey’s Kitchen, Sigmund Pretzel Shop, and more! The Columbus Circle Holiday Market will definitely put you in the holiday spirit!

Holiday Windows

New York City is an amazing place to be during the holidays, especially because of the beautiful decorations and extravagant window displays. Your first stop should always be Macy’s Herald Square because they are known for creating the most outstanding holiday window displays! They have two sets of displays that are located on Broadway between 34th and 35th street and another set along 34th street. Your next stop should be Lord & Taylor, which is on 5th avenue between 38th and 39th street. Their windows are surrounded by a beautiful awning of lights and feature classic holiday imagery, perfect for all ages! After that, head over to Saks Fifth Avenue between 49th and 50th on 5th avenue, where you will see playful holiday fashion! Want to see more fun holiday fashion windows? Head over to Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, and Bloomindale’s displays if you have time!

I hope you have enough time in New York City to visit all of these spectacular holiday spots that will put you in the spirit of the season! Let us know your favorite places to go to get in the holiday spirit by tagging us on on Instagram @Faviana_NY & Twitter @FavianaNY.
