5 Tips How to Shape Eyebrows at Home

2018.05.30

A beauty trend that will always stay with us are bold brows. We all want the perfect eyebrows, but many of us don’t have the time or money to get them routinely done. Luckily for you, you can shape your eyebrows at home with these 5 simple tips!

Tip #1 To Shape Your Eyebrows: Leave Them Alone

Some of us get “tweezer happy” and have the need to tweeze our eyebrows everyday. However, this prevents your brows from reaching their full potential. Especially if you want to achieve fuller and thicker eyebrows, let your brows grow out! This includes no tweezing or touching them for a good 6-8 weeks. By leaving them alone, not only will your eyebrows get longer, but you will start to see your natural eyebrow shape.

Tip #2: Find Your Shape

You can’t properly shape your eyebrows unless you see and discover the shape you want. Whether you let your eyebrows grow on their own or not, you can easily shape your brows properly with these steps. To find the beginning of your brows, hold a brow pencil vertically at the middle of each nostril, then mark that spot with an eyeliner pencil for later reference. Next, pivot the pencil to the outside of your iris to find your eyebrow arch, then make another mark. Finally, swing the pencil until it grazes the outer corner of your eye to find the the tail end of your arch. Now you’re set to start on your brows!

Tip #3: Give Them A Trim

Not only do you have to remove unwanted hair, you need to trim those long eyebrow hairs. Use a small scissor made for nails or specifically eyebrows, and get to clipping! You only want to cut down the long hairs that standout, without giving your brows too close of a crop. To easily do this, brush your eyebrow hair up with a brow or mascara brush first. Then trim those pieces, one hair at a time.

Tip #4: Use Oil & Gel

To prep for plucking your eyebrows, you should use a generous amount of your favorite facial oil. Gently massaging this on the brow bone will prevent your hair from breaking, along with calming down your skin and hair follicle. This will take the edge off the skin’s sensitivity from tweezing, too. Afterwards, you can calm any more irritation and redness with a cooling gel. This cream also tightens the pores, immediately making your brows look better after doing them.

Tip #5: Less is More

You can skip the waxing or threading session, for tweezing actually creates a more natural effect. It’s also less painful if you pluck hairs in the direction of the hair growth while holding the skin taut. Only tweeze stray hairs at the beginning of your brows, beneath your arch, and beyond the end of the tail. Make sure to do this in natural lighting, stepping away from your mirror to gain perspective and to prevent overdoing it. Now you’re ready to fill those babies in!
