Things to do on a Snow Day

Winter is finally here, which means cold weather, the holidays, and for some, the dreaded snow. One of the best things about winter time in my opinion are the snow days off from school or work! Waking up to that phone call or email saying that “school (or work) is cancelled” and turning your alarm clock off is the best feeling ever. Snow days are one of the best gifts winter brings! Whether you are snowed in from school or work, there are a ton of things you can do to catch up and do things you normally would not have time for. We put a list of 17 things to do when you are snowed in!

Exercise. Many people struggle to find the time to exercise with their busy daily schedules. Well, a snow day is the perfect time for this. There are a bunch of indoor workout routines you can do that requires no equipment. Not a fan of indoor workouts? Go on a walk. Not only will you be able to check out the beautiful snow fall, but the difficulty of walking in the snow will give you an extra workout.

Take a bubble bath. It’s your day off, so treat yourself! Take this time to relax and unwind. Crack open a bottle of wine, and take a nice warm bubble bath.

Make a photo album. With the new technology in the photo industry, no one has hard copies of photos to put in a photo album anymore. Photo albums are something you will have to treasure for years to come. So, print those iPhone pictures out, and start a photo album!

Help out a neighbor. Use this time to help an elderly neighbor shovel their driveway. Not only will they appreciate it, but it will make you feel good as well.

Watch a winter movie. Make yourself a cup of hot chocolate, start a fire, and watch a classic winter movie with the family.

Clean. Use this extra time to deep clean things you normally don’t on a regular basis, like your kitchen cabinets and appliances.

Rearrange furniture. Looking to spruce up your house? Rearrange your furniture! Get creative and move some of your furniture around to different rooms in the house.

Plan a vacation. Take this time to search the internet and plan your next vacation! Looking to take a winter vacation? Check out our Top U.S. Winter Destinations blog!

Build a snowman. Of course! This is such a fun activity no matter how old you are. Get your friends and family together and let your inner kid out.

Bake. Get in the holiday spirit and bake some of your favorite desserts.

Read a book. Read that book that has been on your shelf for months! Start a fire, get cozy, and read away.

Start writing a journal. With the technology these days, many people are distracted with their phones, and do not think to keep a journal. Writing in a journal is a private escape where you can let out and express your inner feelings. It is also fun to go back and read it months or years from now.

Take a nap. The constant long work and school days start to catch up on you. Use this day to catch up on some much needed sleep!

Sell some of your old stuff online. Make a little extra cash with the old stuff you have laying around your house! Poshmark is an awesome, easy app where you can simply take pictures of your items and then sell them on the app.

Make a birthday calendar. The worst is when you forget one of your close friends birthdays. Avoid this issue and make a “birthday calendar!” Buy a calendar that does not have a specific year, and write down your friends and families birthdays so you never forget.

Board Game Faviana

Play a board game. Get your friends and family together and play a classic board game like Monopoly, Chess, or Life!

Find new songs. Sick of listening to the same songs over and over? Take this day to search the internet and make a new playlist for yourself. Check out our winter playlist blog here.
