Tricks For Wearing Fake Eyelashes

2018.10.13

We all want longer lashes. However, sometimes our mascaras just don’t cut it. False eyelashes are great for a pageant makeup, but can be even greater for an everyday look if applied correctly. Here are our tricks for wearing false eyelashes anywhere!

Trim False Eyelashes

This is the first important step before even applying your false eyelashes. It’s essential to measure and trim your falsies to guarantee they will fit your eyes. Everyone has a different eye shape, so not every pair will fit you correctly without some alterations. Measure the lashes by placing them on your lash line. Then, make note of where the false lash stops, and cut off the excess.

Besides cutting the eyelashes if they’re too long or too wide, you can also choose to cut them for a more natural look. Cutting the lashes in half and then applying them to the outer corner of your eyes will give a natural cat eye look. Not to mention, it also makes for an easier application!

Get The Right Curve

Eyes are round, not straight. Therefore, you want the false eyelashes to curve the same way your eyes do. A great trick is to wrap the lashes around a makeup brush for a few minutes before applying it. This will add a perfect curve to the eyelash strip, allowing them to form to the shape of your eyes.

Mirror placement also makes a huge difference when getting the right curve. A good trick is to place your mirror flat on the table with your elbows on either side. This will allow you to look down into the mirror, helping you apply them perfectly!

Tweezers Are Everything

Tweezers will be your helping hand when applying and taking off false eyelashes. Unless you’re a professional and have magical fingers, it can be hard to apply falsies on your own. Tweezers are used to hold the false eyelashes and apply it directly to your lashline, whether it’s a strip or individual ones. You can then press down on the strip and adjust the lashes precisely.

Afterwards, you can use tweezers to strategically remove your lashes. If there’s excess dried glue and you wish to wear them again, then use the tool to remove it! Hold the lashes with one hand, and then use the tweezers to gently pull off sections of glue stuck to the lash band.

Apply Glue Correctly

Eyelash glue is what will make your lashes stick to your lashline, so it’s crucial to apply it correctly. You want to apply a little more eyelash glue to the ends and inner corner of the lashes, since these are spots that tend to stick up. This extra hold will get them to stick down and stay down. If it’s too difficult to apply glue onto the lash strip, then try applying glue to your actual lash line, using a bobby pin for assistance!

After applying glue properly, you must allow it to dry properly. Remember: the drier the glue, the better it will stick! You always want to leave the glue on the lashes or on your eyes for 40-50 seconds before applying. This gives it enough time to get tacky, and tacky glue is what sticks better.
