Face Masks for Oily and Dry Skin

Everyone has different skin types and different issues that come with it. We all want perfect skin but sometimes our skin just doesn’t do what we want it to! This is why we teamed up with the Glam & Gowns vlog to bring you two face masks to help combat this. One mask is for oily skin and the other is for dry skin.

First, make sure you know what kind of skin you have. Do you have dry patches? Are some parts of your skin wrinkly, red, dull, and rough? If so, you have dry skin. Are you prone to breakouts? Is your skin shiny with large pores? You most likely have oily skin. Now that you have figured that out, try out the face mask that fits with your skin type.

Oily Skin

Oily skin happens when your sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. Sebaceous glands are just underneath the skin’s surface and Sebum is an oily substance made of fats. Sebum is actually good for you because it helps to protect and moisturize your skin and keep your hair shiny and healthy. But too much of it will lead to oily skin which in turn can lead to clogged pores and acne. Your own genetics, changes in your hormones or even too much stress can increase sebum production.

Oily Skin Mask

1 banana

1 tsp of honey

1/4 cup of lemon juice

Step 1: Blend all of these ingredients together until it creates a paste.

Step 2: Put the paste evenly onto your face and leave it on for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Wash it off with cold water after 20 minutes.

“Honey is one of nature’s most revered skin remedies. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic abilities, it may benefit oily and acne-prone skin. Honey is also a natural humectant, so it helps keep the skin moist but not oily. This is because humectants draw moisture from the skin without replacing it.The acid in lemons and other citrus fruits may help absorb oil and according to a 2008 study, lemons have antibacterial abilities.”

Dry Skin

Dry normally is not a serious condition but it can be uncomfortable if you have it! Most dry skin is caused by environmental factors such as hot or cold weather, low humidity, and soaking in hot water. To improve your skin you should avoid harsh, drying soaps. and make sure to moisturize often. Also, use the dry skin mask bellow!
