Whether it’s for prom or a night out, you’re going to want to make perfume last. You may know how to make your makeup last, but how do you smell like your favorite fragrance all night? We have the beauty tips for you, so try these 5 tricks to make perfume last all night!
Trick #1 To Make Perfume Last: Ointment
The first trick to make perfume last is to rub an ointment like Vaseline or lotion on your pulse points before spraying your perfume. The ointment will hold the fragrance to your skin longer than if you were to spray it onto dry skin. Additionally, oily complexions retain fragrances longer, so your moisturized skin will help lock in the scent. If you have an almost-empty bottle of perfume, you can also pour the last bit of it into an unscented lotion and use that in designated areas.
Trick #2: Timing
Applying perfume is all about the right timing. You should be spraying your fragrance right after you shower and before you get dressed. The moisture that is still on your skin will help lock in the scent, as this will prevent your perfume from staining your delicate clothes or jewelry. To make the scent on your clothes last longer and smell amazing, line your dresser drawers with tissue paper and spray them with your favorite scent in advance. You should also plan ahead by carrying cotton balls sprayed with your perfume or a travel-size bottle with you for quick touch-ups throughout the night.
Trick #3: Placement
To make perfume last, you want to ensure you are placing it in all of the right spots. The scent will last longer if you choose a couple of target points. Spritz points include: your inner wrist, inside your elbows, around your neck, below your midriff, behind your knees, on your ankles, and on your calves. These warm areas will help diffuse the fragrance across your entire body, as spraying your legs will allow the scent to rise throughout the day.
Trick #4: Application
To key to making perfume last is applying it correctly. First of all, you shouldn’t dab the fragrance on your wrists after spraying. If you rub your wrists together, you’ll force the top scent to disappear faster, and as a result, make your fragrance not last as long. If you want to wear multiple perfumes together, spray the stronger scent first and then top it with the lighter fragrance. That way, the first fragrance doesn’t overpower the second. If you’re going for a lighter scent, then spray your perfume in the air and slowly walk into the cloud of mist. The spray will evenly distribute across your body and leave you with a hint of perfume for occasions when you don’t want to smell as strong.
Trick #5: In Your Hair
Besides your body, you’re going to want another part of your smell good: your hair. However, spraying an alcohol-based fragrance directly onto your hair will dry it out. Instead, spray the perfume on your brush before running it through your hair. Your hair will be lightly scented, undamaged, and smell great all night long! There are also specifically designed perfumes for hair to make it smell better in between washes that you should consider investing in.
