Last night, designers and their celebrity muses put on his or her most fashionable frocks and came together to celebrate one of the most important days of the year in fashion, the CFDA awards! While there isn’t as much hype surrounding it as other award shows (it isn’t even broadcasted on TV!), it is just as important. Not only are fashion designers celebrated, but influencers are as well. Of course, in typical Beyoncé fashion, Queen Bey made a surprise appearance and took home the coveted Fashion Icon Award. She stunned the crowd in her Michael Jackson-inspired sequin Balenciaga suit and wide-brimmed hat. Before the show, the red carpet was star-studded with designers and celebrities all dressed to impress. A show that brings together the most fashionable people in America? Count me in!
Here is the Faviana on Trend report, CFDA Awards edition to help you recreate the looks from last night so you can shine as bright as those stars!
Shine Bright
Sequin dresses sparkled on the red carpet last night. You saw it on everyone from Alessandra Ambrosio, to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and of course Beyoncé. My favorite sequin look has to be Rachel Zoe’s sequin, pearl, and crystal encrusted gown. The stylist turned designer not only rocked this look but also designed this one-of-a-kind gown. Zoe took a risk not just with her bedazzled garb, but her accessories as well. While most people would have played it safe when adding accessories to such an ornate gown, she decided to wear large diamond jewelry, a silver metallic bag, and shimmering shoes. This risk paid off and truly gave her look the wow-factor that every fashionista tries to achieve.
Obsessing over this original look as much as I am? You’re in luck! You can look just like Rachel Zoe in Faviana’s style S7600. The nude color and sequins design are almost identical to that of Zoe! Take it to the extreme like she did with accessories or tone it down with simple earring and heels – the choice is up to you.
Cut it out
Cutouts have been an edgy staple on red carpets for the past couple seasons and this event did not disappoint. While many attendees worked this trend, Naomi Campbell looked especially fabulous in her dress by the winner of the Swarovski Award for Womenswear that night, Brandon Maxwell. In contrast with Rachel Zoe, she played it very simple in her black dress with a plunging neckline, cutouts on the side, and one simple silver bracelet.
As always, Faviana is very on trend and has just the right dress for you to recreate this look! Faviana’s style 7897 is the perfect dress for you to show off the sexy cutout trend. The cutouts on the side mimic the ones that Campbell rocked last night and you’ll be making even more of a statement with the added pop of pink underneath the gown. You can go for the braided hairstyle like her or switch it up with a completely different hairstyle!
Jump in
Model Irina Shayk looked red hot in her jumpsuit – another trend that took over the red carpet last night. Shayk turned heads in her bright jumpsuit by designer Misha Nonoo while also showing off the cutout trend as well. Shayk kept her look simple with natural makeup, a messy top knot, and a red clutch.
Unfortunately, this jumpsuit isn’t available to buy, but not to worry! Faviana has you covered, as always. Style 7900 is so similar to the original with its bright color and wide legged pants. However you style it, I know you’ll turn heads just like Shayk did!
I hope you loved the trends from the CFDA Awards as much as I did! Noticed some trends I didn’t? Let us know by tagging us on our new Instagram @glamandgowns or Faviana’s Instagram @Faviana_NY and Twitter @FavianaNY!
