We all know that there was a lot of buzz and controversy leading up to the Oscars. This made the big event that much more essential to tune in to. We couldn’t miss what was about to go down at the 2016 Academy Awards. Here at Faviana, we have a favorite part called the Red Carpet where we love to stalk all the upcoming trends of the award season and give you some ideas about achieving similar looks. Here is the Faviana on Trend report, Oscars edition.
Plunging Necklines
There were a few celebrities who walked this red carpet and dared to take the plunge. Taylor Swift, Olivia Wilde, and Lily Collins are a few to name but Charlize Theron gets our best ‘plunging neckline’ vote. This style truly draws the eye towards the waste, creating a very slimming effect. We love how Charlize added a long necklace to fill in the space. Very daring and very chic. Faviana Style 7747 is our go to example of the best red, red carpet dress, plunging neckline, and adjustable bodice. Personally, this is my favorite look.
Dark Sequins
Yes, sequins have been a must throughout the years but let’s talk about this beautiful hunter green sequin gown Saoirse Ronan was caught slaying at the red carpet. This sparkling Calvin Klein dress was hard to compete with. Little fun fact, Saoirse actually wore green to represent her Irish nationality. Represent girl!
Wanting to achieve this look? Try out Faviana Style 7581, the side cutouts are a perfect addition to this dress which, will keep the gown on trend! Complete the look with some strappy nude shoes and emerald accessories with gold accents. This head-turner will be perfect for your next prom, gala or even a pageant event. Don’t wait to hop on this trend-wagon!
Color Blocking
Can we please take a moment to state how much Kerry Washington is killing it on the red carpet. As if her Olivia Pope style wasn’t making us die, she just had to put in a little “Angelina Jolie” flare to her look for a total jaw dropper. But, what we are loving most about this look is the color blocking! The beautiful thick stripes of contrasting color was brilliant on this Versace gown.
We know you want something just like it so, try out Faviana Style 7785. The high neckline paired with the thick stripes, create a beautiful color block story that follows the curve of your hips will give you a sophisticated yet, sexy look. Finish the look with some pointed patent black heels, diamond earrings, and rhinestone sparkly clutch. Perfect for a guest of a wedding, gala or a party dress!
Lace Applique
We all saw Kelly Ripa in this elegant chiffon gown with black lace and beading applique. We know, we fell in love also. And if you didn’t see it yet, you’re seeing it now and loving it just as much. This dress ended up being a most talked about gown and landed Kelly in a ‘Best Dressed’ slot at the end of the night. We think Joan Rivers would be proud.
Want this look?! Try out Faviana Style 7717 to achieve a similar red carpet look that you can actually attain. Wanting to hone in Kelly’s look a little more? Try pairing the dress with a textured chignon. Finish the look off with some black tear-drop earrings. A total crowd stunner, not to mention perfect for any event from prom to a wedding.
