Last night, stars from all industries came together to celebrate America’s most revered district of theater – Broadway. While the Tony Awards is a celebration of the most creative minds and performers in theater, this year’s show was marked with somber notes throughout as the stars showed solidarity with Orlando after the horrific tragedy that occurred just that day. The biggest trend of the night was the silver ribbon worn by many attendees to honor the lives lost this past weekend and many award winners paid tribute in their acceptance speeches. But as the saying goes, “the show must go on” and that’s exactly what happened. There were many laughs, performances, and of course wins by who else but Hamilton! For an awards show that hasn’t always been known for its fashion, the stars truly brought their A-game.
We’re here to break down the hottest trends from the night and help you recreate them. This is the Faviana on Trend report, Tony Awards edition!
Sleek & Sexy
Silk dresses were all the rage on the Tony’s red carpet this year. This trend was worn by the likes of actress Jessica Lange to TV personality Keltie Knight, and Broadway star Saycon Sengbloh. We think this sexy trend looked its best on Jourdan Dunn, who rocked a champagne pink Zac Posen gown. The model looked absolutely glamorous in this high-low dress with a bustier top. Dunn added some glitzy accessories to finish off the look and simple makeup that showed how naturally beautiful this supermodel truly is.
Bad news: This dress isn’t available for purchase.
Good news: Faviana has just the right dress if you can’t get enough of this champagne-colored silk look!
Faviana style 7755 is the perfect dress to wear if you want to try this trend out. The color in these two dresses is almost exactly the same. While it doesn’t have the high-low look of Dunn’s gown, the draped front and the high slit give it a similar feel. Add some glam jewels and nude or silver heels and you’ll be on the best-dressed list just like Dunn was.
Red Hot
The carpet wasn’t the only thing that was red last night! Red was the most popular color at this awards show. Stars rocked it in every way you can imagine but our favorite was Broadway star Lena Hall’s look. The mermaid silhouette gave it an elegant look while the V-neck with two different shades of red gave it an unexpected edge that turned heads up and down the red carpet. Hall topped the look off with intense makeup that was balanced out with simple jewelry of just chandelier earrings, and a memorial silver ribbon that represented the tone of the night.
Faviana is always ahead of the game and has just the right dress to help you create this look! Faviana style 7753 will make you look just like Hall with its bright red color and mermaid silhouette. Go for simple accessories like she did or add a heavy necklace or cuff – either choice will make you look fabulous!
Classic Black & White
Black and white color blocked dresses were spotted all over the red carpet last night. Broadway star Krista Rodriguez looked chic in a dress with a black top and white bottom. This classic dress only had an origami-like ruffle near the waistline but she added some flare with her edgy dark lipstick and long earrings.
Faviana has just the right dress for you to try this look! Faviana style 7338 is almost identical to Rodriguez’s but the colors are reversed. The ruched bodice adds the complexity needed for such a simple dress, just like the ruffle on Rodriguez’s gown. Add a pair of drop earrings, heels, and if you really want to go for the edgy look put on dark lipstick like her and you’re ready to go!
Summer Simplicity
Broadway star Heather Headley is on a roll! She recently took the place of Jennifer Hudson in The Color Purple and now she’s rocking this stunning frock. The halter-top is a summer staple that is always on trend but gives a look an unexpected twist when worn as a dress. The jewel-encrusted belt around her waist pulls Headley’s sunny gown together, and she finishes the look with statement earrings and an updo.
Obsessing over this look fit for a summer event? Well, you’re in luck! Faviana style 7761 is almost identical except it is in white and not yellow. This dress would be perfect for a wedding or any special event. An updo and diamond jewelry will round off this stunning look for you.
