We’ve spent forever counting down the days (or months) until autumn. Now that it’s finally here, we can participate in the various events we long-waited for. Autumn flies by in a flash, so take advantage of the crisp weather and beautiful atmosphere while you can. We’ve compiled a list for you of the most-fun, must-do fall pastimes to do this season!
Fall Pastimes: Apple & Pumpkin Picking
Nothing screams fall more than being outdoors picking fruit. Additionally, nothing beats the fresh taste of an apple picked by yourself off a tree. Find a local orchard with your family or friends, and enjoy the day picking apples to last you through the whole season. Let’s not forget the other tradition of pumpkin picking as well. You can search for pumpkins in your neighborhood or a farm. Whichever you choose, you’ll find the right pumpkin size and shape for you and the whole house. The fun doesn’t end there though, as you can decorate and carve them any way you want, too!
Fall Pastimes: Corn Maze
Whether you know a farm or a fall festival is in town, there’s no better way to celebrate the season than a classic corn maze. Wear your fall staple pieces, and try not to get lost as your explore with loved ones. The more challenging, the better of course. Once you find your way out, you can enjoy a nice and relaxing hay ride, while eating the delicious roasted corn. You deserve it afterwards! It’s the perfect place to spend the day at and have endless fun activities to enjoy.
Fall Pastimes: Haunted House
Especially if you’re in NYC for autumn, there’s endless amounts of haunted houses and spooky events around. Pay a visit to Jekyll and Hyde, or take a tour through Times Scare. If you’re up for traveling, there’s always numerous haunted houses on Long Island or amusement parks such as Six Flags and Dorney. You’ll be sure to be screaming, so enter at your own risk and only if your dare! After a day full of frights, end the night with a scary movie to continue the mood.
Fall Pastimes: Baking Treats
Take the apples and pumpkins you picked and turn them into a delicious treat! Baking doesn’t have to be hard, and you can easily look up an array of recipes online. Try a classic apple pie to share with your family and neighbors, or be more creative with apple pancakes, cheesecake, and cider. You can also get creative with pumpkins and not just use them for their yummy toasted seeds. Try adding pumpkin to one of your own recipes such as soup. Otherwise there’s always the original pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie, too. No matter what you decide to make, it’s the perfect way to spread fall cheer and bring people together!
