Panorama NYC Trend Report

2016.07.26

Elaine, our senior fashion designer, is back with another festival trend report! This past weekend she attended the first ever Panorama Festival. She chronicled her experience at this tech-savvy festival as well as the amazing trends she saw there. Read on to hear about this futuristic festival and the style that is just as cutting edge. This is Elaine’s Panorama Festival Trend Report!

I braved the northeast heat dome on Saturday July 23, 2016 to attend the first ever PANORAMA NYC, brought by the team that presents Coachella.

The sun was hot: 96 degrees all day!

The music was hot: Foals, The National and Kendrick Lamar rocked the festival.

The technology ansd art were hot: eight NYC artists collaborating in The Lab with The Verge & HP in a mind-altering interactive digital & virtual installation

And the crowd was hot: check out the photos below!

These girls were seen rocking what has become known as the typical festival uniform: crop top, shorts, and low booties. They have also added a few other trends into the mix like fringe, chokers, and lace with their own unique flare.

White Hot

Easy and breezy white looked so refreshing. White was a hot color that kept them cool. Shown on many people from the pearlescent pallette slip dress to the crisp or soft away-from-the-body shapes and fresh takes on the hoodie.

Black on Black

“Not your basic” black! This popular color was shown with lace-ups, cut-outs, lace trims and inserts, and the 1920’s bias-cut slip dresses for a new 2016 effortless look.

Festival Cool

Relaxed cool prevailed in pale gold metallics, off-shoulder ruffles and shower shoes, simple shift dresses with fun embroidery, and crop tops and pants!

New and Trending

Outfits were pulled together in the newest ways! The denim bubble skirt with indigo lipstick and tie dye braids was a unique outfit that really caught my eye. The super-sized mesh skater skirt with classic sneakers looked fabulous and denim shorts with technicolor accents was an unexpected twist. And staple of sunnies and sneakers on everyone.

More shots from the festival:

This photo was taken inside The Lab where New York artists displayed digital works. Panorama’s team really wanted to bring art and tech together with music and did this with The Lab. The Lab had three  different parts: the exhibition, the facade, and the dome. All of these different elements merged art and technology with the festival in a unique way.

The beautiful sunset while The National was playing.

Kendrick Lamar giving an incredible performance.

We hope you enjoyed Elaine’s trend report and a little peek inside this new and innovative festival. You may even have a few new ideas for your next festival look! Did you go to Panorama NYC?
