Here at Faviana we love to take inspiration from our favorite celebs and their red carpet looks. Each season we find looks we absolutely love, from hair to accessories to color trends, we are always looking for something fabulous and unique. Hair inspiration is some of the most fun to try out, and makes finding looks for prom or any spring event, easy! Many celebrities love the slicked back hair look, giving an edgy and sleek vibe to any outfit. Easy to achieve regardless of your hair length or type, check out our tips for Hollywood Inspired: Slicked Back Prom Hair!
Volume For Long Hair
For the girl with the long, luscious locks, you know how hard it can be to create a look that is sleek, without loosing that volume at the crown. If you are planning to wear your hair down for prom or your upcoming event, try a straightened style with a touch of volume. Tease your hair at the crown for lots of volume at your roots, and pull the hair back away from your face. Make sure to set this style with your favorite hairspray to make your look last!
Sleek Shorter Styles
For shorter hairstyles, the slicked back look is Hollywood glam. Try teasing your hair at the crown, and depending on length, gather your hair at the base of your neck. For very short hair try slicking your hair into a dramatic side part, and keeping the style in place with bobby pins.
A sleek pony is a go-to look for countless celebrities on the red carpet, especially the pony queen: Kim Kardashian. It is easy and glam, and achievable for any hair type. For an edgy look try a pin-straight pony at the center of the back of your head, and wrap a strand around the elastic to create a severe but glam look. Use a gel with strong hold to keep your pony just so, but don’t overdo it so it looks stiff. Looking for something a little softer but love the slicked back style? Try slicking your hair into a slightly higher pony, and curling the ends for a bit of bounce.
Nothing says stress-free hair like a bullet-proof bun. Sweep your hair up into a high, or not so high, pony and twist the tail into an effortlessly chic top knot. Use your favorite gel to create a frizz free, no drama look. For a more relaxed version, click your hair back into a messy-chic prom bun with just the right amount of fly-aways. Missing a little sparkle? Add a delicate headband to this look.
These looks are perfect for highlighting a detailed, glam prom dress. A slicked back style allows you to not worry about your hair all night, and will eliminate the stress of hair touch-ups during your event. Don’t be afraid of a little gel this prom season!
