Here at Faviana, we are inspired by all things NYC, the city where our first collection started just about 30 years ago. Even today, we love the city’s energy and refined elegance, which is always a big component of all our collections, our mission, and our vision. That is why we decided to create a weekly series in which we showcase all the best that New York City has to offer. Whether you live in the city or want to visit sometime, we hope our list of the best things to do in some of the most exciting neighborhoods and boroughs gives you plenty of options to have fun and new adventures.
We couldn’t write a series about New York’s neighborhoods without including one in the Bronx! Today we are telling you what to do in Belmont (and areas close to it), as we believe it’s one of the most charming neighborhoods in the Bronx— it’s most prominent avenue is Arthur Ave, also knows as “the real Little Italy” of NYC. Amazing authentic Italian food and beautiful nature make this a place where you should definitely spend some time!
Morning in the Bronx Zoo
More than 4000 animals live on 265 acres of nature, making the Bronx Zoo one of the largest zoos in the world and the largest in any metropolitan area of the US. With over 2 million visitors every year, the Bronx Zoo is the place to go if you are an animal lover and want to see and learn more about them.
What many people don’t know is that it is run by the Wildlife Conservation Society, which means that the zoo’s profits go directly to animal conservation, both in the US and abroad, where they have been able to protect land in 65 countries. They have been able to save species from extinction, as they did in 1907 when they prevented that fate for the American Bison.

Afternoon in New York Botanical Garden
New Yorkers really can’t complain when it comes to their outdoors and green spaces. We have Central Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and of course, the outstanding beauty of the original New York Botanical Garden.
The site has 250 acres of gardens to explore as well as more than one million living plants, including the rose garden which blooms spectacularly from late Spring to mid Fall and it’s considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The Conservatory, which is constructed in the Victorian fashion, might be one of the most beautiful architectural structures in the city and it’s breathtaking in every season. Right now, artworks by world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly are being exhibited, which only compliments the garden’s ethereal beauty even more.

Evening in Arthur Avenue
Do you want to visit the “real” Little Italy of NYC? Look no further than Arthur Avenue, which last year was named one of “America’s Greatest Streets” according to the American Planning Association. This charming street is home to some of the city’s best Italian restaurants and food shops, including Casa della Mozarella (unmissable for all cheese lovers) and Madonia Brothers Bakery (if you love cannoli nearly as much as us, this is the place to go).
If you are ready to have dinner on the spot, head to Greco’s, which is inside the Retail Market, and order Big Mike’s Combo. It made number one in the list of New York’s best Italian subs, and for good reason. With mortadella, ham and salami, if you are a true Italian food lover, you will love this old-school spot.
