Poetry is a form of release. Release from stress, the outside world, and the ups and downs of life. Sometimes we cannot put our thoughts into words, but luckily there are some amazing novels out there that can help explain how we are feeling. Below I have listed and reviewed some outstanding poetry books that you should definitely check out!
The Hell Within Me
There is one thing we all have in common as we walk this earth, and that is love. It is an inevitable concept. Whether it be falling in love with a human, or a flower, or a random puppy on the street, we cannot avoid it. The Hell Within Me is a novel almost everyone can relate to because C.B. Roberts does not hold back with his emotions after being completely destroyed by love, which makes his writing even more desirable. The rawness of these poems are destructive yet hopeful and will show you that when love is good, it’s great, but when love is bad, it’s devastating. This is one novel that will release emotions that lie deep within your soul and bring them to life.
Milk and Honey
Everyone can throw words onto a page, but to make them into a story that captures an audience is a gift. Rupi Kaur created Milk and Honey to help others with their struggles by telling her own heart-wrenching stories about love, loss, destruction, feminism, and abuse. She divides this novel into four sections that each tell a story of their own. You will not be able to put this book down because most poems will leave you feeling heartache, but Rupi creates some sort of hope within her stories that will have you captivated beyond belief.
Beautiful Chaos
Robert M. Drake does a wonderful job of making you re-read his poems multiple times in Beautiful Chaos because they are just that good. The beauty that lies within each stanza is so powerful. These accumulation of poems will have you evoking old memories, long lost feelings, and emotions you never knew you had. I am grateful to have found this book because I felt like it was written directly to myself due to Drake’s personable and genuine verses. This is the type of novel you lose yourself within and before you know it, it’s 3 o’clock in the morning.
I Wrote This for You
If you are looking for a poetry book that will completely have your mind racing, I highly recommend I Wrote This for You. This book presents poetry that will be interpreted for each person individually. It will inspire you to be truthfully and fully yourself with no explanation. Personally, I felt like this book made me feel more myself than I am actually capable of. It’s almost as if Pleasefindthis crawled into my mind, pulled my thoughts out and turned them into words written on each page. This is a special book made for no one, but yourself.
