Top 5 Wedding Movies

2017.06.07

Here at Faviana, one of our favorite topics are weddings, which is why we love wedding themed movies! Who doesn’t get a good laugh out a wedding-themed romantic comedy? For some good movie suggestions, here are Faviana’s top 5 wedding movies!

The Wedding Planner

Who doesn’t love a good early 2000s rom-com starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey?! It’s super cheesy but that’s what makes a great rom-com after all. Jennifer Lopez plays Mary, a top notch wedding planner who has always been 100% professional in her work and seems to pull off near-miracles for her clients. Mary ends up falling for Steve (Matthew McConaughey’s character) and thinks she has found her soulmate, until later on, she finds out that he, along with his wife, are her latest clients! The Wedding Planner is a great rainy day movie because you can turn it into a ‘Jennifer Lopez rom-com’ theme where the movie possibilities are nearly endless.

Mamma Mia!

It might not be socially acceptable for your wedding take the form of a full blown Broadway sing-along but that doesn’t mean you can’t at least imagine it taking place while you watch Mamma Mia! Amanda Seyfried is utterly adorable alongside Meryl Streep and a whole slew of talented cast members singing along all while trying to help Sophie (Amanda Seyfried’s character) find her real father before her wedding day.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

You’re not Greek? That’s okay, you don’t need to be Greek to get a kick out of this movie. Personally, it’s one of my favorites because it’s so relatable to my big Italian family but honestly, I think that almost anyone can relate a part of their family to this movie. Toula (played by Nia Vardalos) must find a “nice Greek boy” to marry, and soon, in order to please her very Greek family. But fate has a funny way of bringing people together because the man she falls in love with is, in fact, not Greek at all. This throws her family into an uproar as the movie follows Toula’s transformation from frumpy to fearless. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is the perfect choice if you want to endlessly laugh out loud! And, the sequel just (finally!) came out in theaters and I promise it doesn’t disappoint.

Made of Honor

This movie stars McDreamy. Need I say more? Well, Tom (Patrick Dempsey’s character), gets himself into quite a bind. His best friend, Hannah (played by Michelle Monaghan), is getting married but Tom must confess his love to her before she makes a mistake and marries the wrong guy. As he sets out to do so, Hannah interrupts him and asks him instead to be his maid of honor. Tom can’t say no, of course, so he spends the remainder of the movie trying to find ways to be a good friend as Hannah’s maid of honor while not forgetting about his true feelings for her.

Sex and the City

Grab your girlfriends, sisters, mothers, anyone with the itch to get a glimpse into the fabulous New York City life Carrie live. Now, assign your roles; are you the Samantha? Carrie? Charlotte? Or Miranda? Do you have a Big in your life too?! Ok now that the roles have been assigned, press play. Sex and the City is a classic, especially if you’ve been following along or even recently binge watched the HBO series. How can you not love Carrie, then get mad at her for being so indecisive, then love her again, then hate Big for also being indecisive, then never be able to picture Carrie and Big with anyone else?! We all have close friends we can immediately pinpoint which is why this is one of our favorite movies.
