The Met Gala: Trend Report

2017.05.02

The first Monday in May is the fashion highlight of the year, and the Met Gala did not disappoint this year. The exclusive event is carefully curated by the Queen herself, Anna Wintour, and always promises the most outlandish and amazing outfits from all of our favorite celebrities. This year the theme was in honor of Comme de Garçons designer, Rei Kawakubo, and stars got very into the theme. Here at Faviana we looked into our favorite trends from the evening, and found some tips for how you can add these looks into your style this spring. Here is The Met Gala: Trend Report!

Off The Shoulder

One of our favorite trends for Prom 2024 was seen all over the red carpet last night, as many stars sported off the shoulder gowns. Kim K rocked a floaty, white, long sleeved gown and chose to go without any jewelry. Her severe bob and natural makeup made for a gorgeously simple look! For an off the shoulder look for your next event, try Faviana Style S8002, which is perfectly elegant with statement sleeves and off the shoulder glam.

Trains For Days

The New York Times

The long trains were giving us serious princess vibes last night! Nicki Minaj rocked a custom H&M gown with a gorgeous black and red train flowing beneath a leotard style bodice. For a more wearable look, try a dress with a small train, or a gown with a cape to give you a queenly appearance! Go for a deep v-neck like Nicki for a dramatic look, and top it off with an irresistible deep, red lip.

Metallics

We will never get sick of metallics on the red carpet. Black Lively was a vision in a gold beaded dress, with a blue feathered train. Gold is a perfect color for making a statement at your next event, and you can go all out of just incorporate it into your accessories. Gold prom dresses are a great way to make a sparkly entrance at prom this year. Try rocking a gold prom dress with a power pony like Blake! For a subtler look, try adding some metallics in your makeup, gold goes perfectly with blue or hazel eyes!

Top Knots

The New York Times

A top knot is perfect for a no-fuss edgy look for any event. Many stars rocked this look at the Met Gala, but our favorite was Kate Hudson’s ice queen look. With white blonde hair, an elegant gown, and a gorgeous smokey eye, Kate rocked this look.

We love to see our favorite stars in gorgeous custom pieces, and always feel inspired watching the Met Gala red carpet. Try out one of these trends at your next event, maybe prom or a summer gala!

Which celeb look was your favorite from last nights Met Gala? Which stars missed the mark? Let us know in the comments.
