How To Contour Your Face Like a Celebrity

2018.10.20

Contouring is the newest makeup craze that people just can’t get enough of! This trend, made famous by none other than the Kardashian sisters, was created to make your face appear slimmer and more sculpted. The basic premise of it is to highlight the areas of your face that you would like to bring out, while shading in the parts you want to make thinner. We’re here to show you how to contour your face like a celebrity!

Materials Needed

  • Moisturizer
  • Foundation
  • Blending brush
  • Concealer
  • Contouring Stick or bronzer

Step 1: Prep To Contour Your Face

To prep your skin for contouring, start by moisturizing your face. A moisturized face will be smoother and easier to apply makeup, especially when blending. Makeup tends to stick to dry skin, and you definitely don’t want that! You can also use a toner for this part as well. You will then apply foundation evenly onto your face and neck. You’re now ready to contour your face!

Step 2: Highlighting

Next, you will need to break out your concealer for this part! This is where we highlight the parts of our face that we want to stand out – these are basically the parts of your face that the light hits. You will first put concealer on your chin and under your nose on your cupid’s bow. Then, you will want to highlight under your eyes, your forehead, and the bridge of your nose. After you add concealer to all of those places, dab and blend the concealer. This process will accentuate the prominent features of your face that you want to pop! You can also add concealer to cover up any other redness or blemishes on your face.

Step 3: Shading

This is where the actual contouring part comes in! You will be shading in areas where you will want to slim down. I always start by pulling my hair back so I can see the natural contour of my face, then start using the contour stick at the top of your ear and bring it down parallel to your pupil. You will also contour the perimeter of your forehead, the sides of your nose, the sides of your chin, and jawline. Play around and practice to find what areas you want to focus on and what looks best!

Step 4: Blending

Finally, you have to blend everything in evenly. You can also add powder contour or highlighter to set everything in place. Try a translucent setting powder, too! Then, pair your contoured face with some glam hair and makeup, and you’re good to go!

There you have it! You’re now contoured to perfection. We hope you feel fabulous in your newly done-up makeup. Mastering this technique will be useful for you when getting ready for a fun night out. This look will also look incredible in selfies – you’ll be sure to rack up the likes with this one!
