There is no doubt that wedding season is still going strong! Summer really is one of the best moments to celebrate a wedding. Just a few weeks ago we wrote an article about some of the best summer wedding dresses, which of course includes one that’s celebrated at the beach. And what could be more fun than celebrating a beach wedding, really? Gorgeous backdrops, great opportunity for vacationing with family and friends, and lots of sun rays.
However, now that you know which dress you will be wearing, is time to figure out how to style it. Even though beach weddings are fun, they also pose a bit of a challenge in terms of figuring out how to accessorize for the occasion: you want to look elegant yet beach-appropriate, breezy but put-together. But don’t stress, here at Faviana, we have tips about how to accessorize so you can look amazing at all your summer events.
Shoes
When it comes to choosing the ideal shoes for a beach wedding you have to keep in mind that obviously, there will be sand, so your highest stiletto heels or even wedges might be not the most sensible or comfortable option for this occasion. You should wear shoes, though, even if the option of going barefoot seems appealing. First, because you might go inside a venue for the reception, second, because a wedding is a formal occasion after all, and wearing shoes it’s kind of a requirement at these things.
You have a few options: you could wear some cute sandals that match your dress color and style or even some nice ballet flats. Slides are cute, comfortable and totally in right now (thanks, Rihanna!). Leather loafers and mules are always nice, but avoid shoes made of suede as they will likely get ruined with the water and sand. If you really, truly, want to wear heels, use ones with low heels that are somewhat on the chunkier side.
Accessories
Have fun! If you wear a simple and chic one-tone dress, mix things up a bit by accessorizing with bold colors. Stack bangles that are fun and bright or have interesting patterns. Maybe try long earrings or hoops that caress your shoulders and bring attention to your neckline. Adorn your hair with a pretty clip that maybe has sea motifs or add color and texture with a nice scarf.
Also, make sure you have a light sweater, jacket, throw on or wrap shawl for when things get colder at night, and remember to bring a simple clutch or chic mini-purse that will be easy to carry and fill it with your beach wedding essentials: lipstick, sunscreen, and tissues!
Makeup
Stick to light, pretty, natural makeup. Choose neutral lip colors like pastels or nudes and if you want a little more color maybe a nice neutral orange. For your eyes, don’t try heavy smoky eyes since it would look out of place in the setting.
Why don’t you try choosing a colorful eyeliner and glide a fine line just in the top of your eyes? Add waterproof mascara (it’s a wedding, after all!), a little natural highlighter in the tops of your cheeks and under your brows, and you are set to go. Also, a little bronzer never hurt anybody…
Hair
Although beachy waves and soft curls sound like the perfection option, maybe think about putting your hair in a pretty updo and adorn it with some cute beach-themed clip, such as the ones pictured above with sea stars. Why? Well, normally beach weddings can get pretty windy, and your gorgeous beach waves can get tangled or get in your face with every flip of your hair. If you want to wear it down, think about putting it out of your face with a scarf, a cute clip or bobby pins.

Other nice options are high ponytails, messy side braids, or hair braid crowns. Want a complete list with a how-to to trending hairstyles? Just check ours article about tropical hairstyles!
