So what are you waiting for? Here’s a list for you of our go-to places in NYC during the holiday season!

Every year, Macy’s holds their famous Thanksgiving Day parade on Thursday morning. Nonetheless, the store doesn’t stop there each holiday season. As soon as the parade is over, the December holidays take over the large department store. Come explore their spectacular and highly decorated window displays outside, stretching across the whole avenue. Additionally, you can step inside and walk through Santa’s workshop, taking your picture with the man himself at the end! Besides Macy’s in Herald Square, make sure to check out other holiday window displays of the biggest department stores in New York City, such as Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue. These one-of-a-kind presentations will be sure to spread some holiday cheer!

NYC During the Holiday Season: Central Park

Central park is beautiful to walk around in the summer, and even more breath-taking in the fall with the changing colors of the leaves. During the holiday season though, it’s a go-to destination for ice skating! Head over to Wollman Rink in Central Park with your friends for a day of fun. You can also try other ice rinks in NYC at Bryant Park, LeFrak Center, Rockefeller Center, and Chelsea Piers. In addition to ice skating, Central Park is the perfect place for sledding when there’s enough snow on the ground!

NYC During the Holiday Season: Rockefeller Center

Not only can you go ice skating at Rockefeller Center, but you can see another timeless tradition for New Yorkers and tourists alike. Starting back in 1933, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has become a staple to see. You can see the lighting ceremony of the 69-100 foot tree in early December or on broadcast, while visiting it with your family and friends any time after that!

NYC During the Holiday Season: Empire State Building

Right at the center of the iconic New York City skyline lies the famous Empire State Building. During the months of November and December, the top of the building is lit up with red and green lights to celebrate the holidays. Go to the top yourself for the ultimate view of NYC and holiday feel. You can catch the first lighting each year since it coincides with the opening night for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

NYC During the Holiday Season: Radio City Music Hall

Speaking of which, this is another go-to event. Whether you’ve gone before or it’s your first time, the Rockettes put on quite a show each year at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Don’t miss out on their show-stopping performance, the perfect activity for a snowy or rainy day in NYC. You can catch them 5 days a week during the holiday season, right at Radio City Music Hall.
