You may or may not have stuck to your New Year’s resolutions, but it’s never too late to make a change to your life. Many people tend to lose focus of their goals and promises to themselves. You can always eat right and exercise more, but we’re here to give you more valuable advice that you won’t forget. This summer, follow these 5 tips for a happier, healthier life!
Give Back for a Happier, Healthier Life
The first step for a happier, healthier life is providing someone else with the same thing. Finding ways to give back to others will give you a new perspective on your own problems, and make you feel better by realizing that you can make a difference in the lives of others. This can be assisting a friend in need, lending an ear to listen, or volunteering at a local charity.
Be More Social
No one should go through life alone. It’s important to establish a network of friends, instead of neglecting them. Try to see your friends on a basis that fits into both of your schedules. Strong friendships help buffer life’s challenges, so you need them more than you think. Additionally, being in physical contact with someone you care about is an automatic stress reliever. So be full of hugs and hand-holding!
Practice Self-Care
Practicing self-care is vital to keeping your body happy and healthy, both mentally and physically. Go get a professional massage once in a while- it can actually boost your immune system and make you more content. Treat yourself to a day of shopping, read a book, take a yoga class, or spend some time alone. Do whatever makes you relaxed so you can re-cooperate.
Get Into a Sleep Routine
Sounds basic, but getting into a sleep routine is essential to re-energizing your body and mind. Start by finding your magic “sleep number,” which is the number of hours of sleep needed to enable you to do your best work and handle daily challenges. This should be about 7-8 hours. If you have trouble sleeping, you may have to monitor your caffeine intake and time spent on electronics before bed.
Spend More Time With Nature
Even if you’re in a city, it is very important to spend some time outside each day. Take photos, check out the sky, and pay attention to the sounds and smells around you as you take a walk. Get your hands dirty, because the microorganisms in the soil actually help improve your mood. Additionally, just 15 minutes of sunshine helps your body produce vitamin D, which many people are deficient in.
