Prom pictures are something you will look back on for years to come, so you want to be sure you look your best! We have given some tips for how to prep your hair for prom, your nails for prom, and your skin for prom, but what about your teeth? It has been said that your smile is sometimes the first thing people notice about you, so make sure your teeth are looking their best for prom. There are lots of ways to get your teeth brilliantly white for prom, so here at Faviana we looked into the best 5 Ways to Brighten Your Smile For Prom!
Step Up Your Brushing
This may seem like a no-brainer, but try to train yourself to brush a few more times during the day leading up to prom. Stash a travel toothbrush in your clutch and sneak off to the bathroom when you can at work or school to brush after meals. Flossing is also key to getting your smile looking fabulous, and it’s time to finally take flossing seriously. Your dentist has been bugging you to do it for years, so try to set a goal for yourself to floss each night. Also try an alcohol free mouthwash once a day to keep plaque at bay. Your teeth will thank you!
Avoid Coffee and Tea
The Independant
Sad but true: coffee and tea stain your teeth. Many of us need that cup of coffee or tea each day to give us that morning energy…or afternoon…or evening. Try to cut back or quite coffee for a few weeks before prom to avoid staining your smile. If you absolutely need coffee to get through your day (we do!), try using a straw whenever you have a to-go beverage. This will bi-pass your teeth, and keep your lipstick looking fresh.
Whitening Strips
Whitening strips can be expensive, but the results are proven to be very effective. Start a few weeks before prom, and whiten a few times a week. Be very careful to follow the instructions carefully, as over-whitening can damage your teeth if left on too long or done too often.
Baking Soda Scrub
GrowWNY
Combining baking soda and lemon juice to make a paste is a powerful way of naturally whitening your teeth. Create a few teaspoons of the paste and use an old toothbrush to scrub the paste over all of your teeth, and allow it to sit for a few minutes. It doesn’t taste great, but is a good way of whitening without chemicals.
Red Lips
If all else fails, red lipstick will make your teeth look whiter! Depending on your prom style, try a bold red lip with blueish undertones to make your teeth appear drastically whiter. A matte lip will also make your teeth look glossy. Make sure to use a primer so your look stays on all night!
